T. E. Lawrence to Kathleen Scott

14 Barton St.
S.W.1.

16. 2. 23

If Your Serenity doesn't think it hitting below the belt (when I fight it's with everything anyhow and everywhere) will She carry out Her idea of doing something summary of H. W. Young. (Major, Indian Army)? It would greatly gratify my unworthy self.

This self lacked courage to tell you that it has changed its name, (without proceeding to the dreadful extremity of marriage) and now answers to Mr. J. H. Ross, at Barton Street and where else men do collect.

No luck with the work-hunt, except in the Free State, which is willing, but from which I shrink a little. In fact I've postponed it a week, in the hope that the British Army (to which I've made advances) may offer me a shilling. Light-houses seem to be all booked.

JR.

My mother sends her kind regards. She is called Mrs. Lawrence.
